The last days skiing in Obergurgl

The last three days in Hochgurgl for the Ski Club Great Britain in 2011 to 2012 season, leader Linda Westoby.

Well, what amazing snow we have been privileged to enjoy here in Obergurgl. And how privileged I have been as a leader to be staying at the wonderful Edelweiss and Gurgl hotel, where everyone is so friendly and helpful, everything so comfortable, and such delicious and plentiful food. There surely can be no luckier Leaders than those who come to Obergurgl.

Last three days in Obergurgl – Hochgurgl

Our last three days have seen mixed weather, but with Thursday being so much better than forecast with sun and cloud but good visibility and no snow. How lucky that it has not rained.

We have had a good group of between 4 and 8 skiers, and on Thursday we skied Red 3 run in several inches of new powder. The members think it was such a highlight. Also the Run 27 has been such good skiing from top Wurmkogl. Run 25 to Pill has been kept in such good condition too, very difficult perhaps at this time of year. The best runs have been up higher, but Run 20 and 32 into 25 have also been really good. The weather has not daunted our hardy skiers on the less good days, and they have so much enjoyed the brilliant late April skiing.

I hope to be fortunate enough to return here as a Leader.
