Nordic Walking in Tyrol
Nordic walking in the highest Nordic fitness park in Europe
“Nordic walking” is hiking with special poles. A classical hike therefore turns into a highly efficient full body workout without any additional effort or much sports equipment. Nordic walkers report optimum results with this training method. It is one and a half time as effective as hiking without poles. It increases the pulse and the body burns more calories. Many people have effectively reduced their weight with Nordic walking.
“Urweg” trail and “Zirbenwald” trail
Our high-altitude “Urweg” trail (prehistoric trail) starts in Obergurgl at 1,930 meters and leads to the Karlsruher Hute (2,430 m).
The Urweg trail from Obergurgl to the Karlsruher Hut starts at the first hairpin bend above the village on the road to the Gaisberg Bridge (trail no. 7). On the Western slope of the Hohe Mut an easy to medium trail leads up to the Schönwies Hut (2,262 m) at the beginning of the Rotmoos Valley. From there, the Karren trail (trail no. 8) slightly descends to the Gurgler Alm, an 8000-year old cultivated landscape with a stone-hewn shepherd’s cabin. The trail then continues to the valley on the Hangerer slopes to the Langtalereck and up the steeper turns to the Karlsruher Hut and animal pastures.
In addition, hiking the Zirbenwald trail (2.2 km) is very good exercise for beginners. It affords stunning views of mountain scenery.
