What is now the 4-star superior Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl, welcoming guests from around the world in the heart of Obergurgl, began in 1889 as a humble mountain inn.
Since then, our family has helped shape the region’s story – with vision, consistency and true Tyrolean hospitality. Today, the hotel is managed by the fourth generation of the Scheiber family – with the same passion as ever and a commitment to combining traditional values with modern comfort.
At 3,006 metres, Martin Scheiber built the Ramolhaus, the first mountain hut in the Ötztal – and at the same time began construction of the “Edelweiss” inn in Obergurgl. As a pioneering member of the Alpine Club, he laid the foundation for tourism in the valley.
