How to get to the Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl

The journey to Obergurgl-Hochgurgl right at the end of the Ötztal Valley is an experience in itself. As you make your way towards the Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl you will be able to marvel at the beauty of the Ötztal Valley with its traditional Tyrolean villages and spectacular mountains. Finally you will reach our village at 1,930 metres above sea level, where you can look forward to a genuinely warm welcome. The hotel is located in the heart of the ski resort in winter and close to the hiking and biking trails in summer.
 

By road, rail or air

Arriving by road, rail and air

Travellers arriving by rail from around Europe, especially from Germany, will want to take advantage of the discounts and deals available. Speak to your local rail provider or go online for more information on reductions for groups and families. International connections make it easy to reach Innsbruck train station.

From there, regular regional trains run to Ötztal Bahnhof. Let us know when you will be arriving and we will be happy to pick you up from the station. A pick-up service is also available from Innsbruck train station – talk to a member of staff at reception using our live chat.

Driving through the Ötztal Valley is a wonderful experience. Once you arrive here in Obergurgl we will be happy to park your car for you in our underground garage. This service is completely free of charge. Thanks to our hotel's location and the excellent local transport you will not need your car for the rest of your stay.

Despite its high altitude, the village of Obergurgl is easily accessible throughout the winter months. The roads are kept in excellent condition and cleared of snow on a regular basis. However, we strongly recommend that all drivers bring snowchains.

  • Arriving via Innsbruck (from the east of Austria and Munich)
    Take the A12 past Innsbruck towards "Arlberg/Schweiz/Bregenz" and leave the motorway at "Haiming, Ötztal". The B186 leads towards "Kühtai, Timmelsjoch, Meran, Ötztal Information" into the Ötztal Valley. It takes about one hour from the motorway exit to Obergurgl.
     
  • Arriving via Bregenz (from Switzerland)
    Take the A12 towards "Innsbruck/München" and then leave the motorway at "Haiming, Ötztal". The B186 leads towards "Kühtai, Timmelsjoch, Meran, Ötztal Information" into the Ötztal Valley. It takes about one hour from the motorway exit to Obergurgl.
     
  • Toll-free arrival (from Germany)
    Instead of taking the A12 motorway, take the Fernpass-Bundesstraßeor the border crossing at Garmisch. Follow the roads until they meet the B186, then head towards "Kühtai, Timmelsjoch, Meran, Ötztal Information" into the Ötztal Valley. From the start of the B186 to Obergurgl  the journey takes around one hour.
     
  • Arriving from Italy (only in summer)
    Drivers arriving from Italy should travel via Meran/Merano. From there, take the SS44 towards "Timmelsjoch/Österreich". This will take you up over the border into Austria. Please be aware that this border crossing is closed in heavy snowfall and at night.
 

There are several airports near the Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl. Our VIP shuttles are available to pick you up and bring you straight to Obergurgl. This pick-up service is available from Innsbruck, Zurich, Munich and Salzburg.

Das Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl liegt im Herzen von Obergurgl auf 1.930 Metern Seehöhe – direkt an der Skipiste mit Ski-in & Ski-out Komfort. Dank der hauseigenen Rolltreppe gelangen Sie in wenigen Sekunden zu den Bergbahnen. Außerdem befindet sich das moderne Kongress- und Veranstaltungszentrum Gurgl Carat direkt gegenüber.

Obergurgl ist ganzjährig gut mit dem Auto erreichbar. Von Innsbruck aus führt die Route über die A12 Inntalautobahn  und das Ötztal direkt nach Obergurgl. Auch im Winter ist die Straße in der Regel problemlos befahrbar – Schneeketten sind meist nicht notwendig, aber es ist immer empfehlenswert, sie im Auto mitzuführen. In unserer hauseigenen Tiefgarage parken Sie Ihr Fahrzeug bequem mit direktem Zugang zum Hotel.
