The village of Obergurgl, home to our four-star Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl, is surrounded by 21 majestic mountains over 3000m. With their glistening glaciers and sheer rockfaces, these giants of the Ötztal Alps appear impossibly far away.
While some of the peaks do require Alpine experience, special equipment and a healthy portion of courage, others are relatively easy to climb in the summer months using the cable cars and with the guidance of a fully qualified hiking guide.
The best way to start an Alpine adventure high above Obergurgl is by taking the modern Hohe Mut Bahn cable car, which transport guests from the Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl up to one of the best vantage points in the whole of Tyrol.
On the flat pleateau just below the summit you can enjoy wonderful views of 21 mountains over 3000m in the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl hiking region at the end of the Ötztal Valley.
Those who want even more action should visit our regular hikers' get-together and talk to the Edelweiss & Gurgl's experienced mountain guide to get tips on some of the best hikes in the region. He will also be happy to accompany you on treks to some of the most eye-catching summits in the area.
The Edelweiss & Gurgl Bonus Cards give holders free access to the cable cars and hiking shuttles in the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl region.
Thanks to its perfect location, the Hotel Edelweiss & Gurgl is the ideal starting point for short bikes and more ambitious excursions into the fascinating Ötztal Alps.
